The ASG is now a farce that’s become my own mid-season break. I’d like to go into it on a positive note and then, on Friday, I’ll be in attendance at Dodger Stadium for the first time since the Puig era.
Lucky you. I haven’t been to DS since 1976, when I saw them beat the Big Red Machine.
I first went in 1966, when I saw Koufax blank the team formerly known as the Astros.
I saw a couple of games at the Coliseum and whatever was the first year at Dodger Stadium.
OK, let’s have a meetup there some time. I was originally supposed to go with RBI, who had to go out of town and gifted me the tickets.
I feel obligated to reciprocate at some point.
ASG has been a farce for so long as a game, it’s hardly even worth mentioning as such at this point.
As exhibitions go it is more of a game than what the NFL or NBA produces though.
In the NBA they play no defense in the ASG. In the MLB pitchers aren’t going to serve meatballs to the batters.
